Hiroaki OHYA began his design career with international fashion designer Issey Miyake as his mentor. In 1996, Ohya opened his own design studio, Ohya Design Zoo, whilst continuing to do work for Miyake. In 1999, Astro Boy By Ohya was born, bringing together two of Japan’s great creative minds.
Ohya’s collections have not only been presented in Tokyo but also New York and Paris, the home of fashion.
Astro Boy by Ohya could be described as futuristic or edgy but certainly not mainstream. You could say Ohya has successfully interpreted a brand built on the basis of a robot ahead of his time.
Free from the restriction of conventional character licensing, Astro Boy by Ohya creations feature subtle renderings or creative interpretations of the character.
